In recent days, there has been a lot of debate regarding the future of Matteo Dams, the Al Ahly club's full-back, amidst the team's moves to sign new foreign names during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Despite increasing talk about the possibility of his departure, reports have confirmed that Dams will remain with the club, but outside the first team's starting lineup.

According to sources, the Al Ahly management has decided to transfer the player to the reserve team, while keeping the option to promote him back to the first team as needed for tactical reasons.

Coach Matthias Jaissle is putting together a plan to bolster the Al Ahly squad with new foreign players, which has necessitated changes regarding the status of some current players, with Dams at the forefront.

Matteo Dams joined Al Ahly during the last winter transfer window from the Dutch league and participated in the team's crowning victory in the 2025 AFC Champions League.
