European Competition to Sign James McAtee
Thursday 10-07-2025
The British newspaper 'Telegraph' revealed that West Ham United has entered the race to sign James McAtee, a midfielder from Manchester City, competing with Nottingham Forest and several European clubs interested in acquiring the young player.

The newspaper clarified that McAtee, the captain of the England Under-21 team which won the European Championship last month, is in the final year of his contract with Manchester City, and he appears to be a strong candidate to leave this summer due to his desire to play regularly after struggling with limited appearances last season.

According to the report, West Ham and Nottingham Forest face strong competition from prominent clubs in Germany such as Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, in addition to Fiorentina and Roma from the Italian league.

Interested clubs estimate the value of the deal at around £25 million, while City values the player at nearly £42.5 million.

It is noted that the 22-year-old player, who excels as a playmaker or attacking winger, is looking for a project that gives him the opportunity to participate as a starter, while City is looking to reduce its squad after bolstering its ranks with new players, making McAtee's departure this summer an expected step.
