The Latest is Duran.. Players Who Transferred from the Saudi League to Turkey
Tuesday 08-07-2025
The Saudi Professional League has undergone a historic transformation in recent years, making it an attractive destination for global stars, after previously relying on other leagues, particularly the Turkish league, to strengthen its clubs.

Since before 2018, Saudi teams looked to the Turkish league to bring in professional players, but today it has become a market that imports talents and influential players from "Roshn" in notable transfers.

It has become clear that the technical and financial value of the Saudi league has risen to the extent that a number of stars are now transferring from their clubs to major Turkish teams, after establishing their names locally.

Among the most notable recent departures to Turkey are: John Duran, loaned from Al-Nassr to Fenerbahçe, and Anderson Talisca who also bid farewell to Al-Nassr heading to Fenerbahçe, as well as Saint-Maximin from Al-Ahli.

Additionally, Bafétimbi Gomis has returned to Galatasaray from Al-Hilal, while Emmanuel Boateng joined Gaziantep from Al-Orouba as part of the mutual transfer wave.

On the other hand, the Turkish league has long been a reservoir of foreign talents that joined Saudi clubs, such as Maicon and Giuliano, who previously played for Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe before donning the Al-Nassr jersey.

The past years also witnessed Gomis's transfer from Galatasaray to Al-Hilal, and Joseph Da Souza from Beşiktaş to Al-Ahli, in addition to Garry Rodrigues and Da Costa arriving from Başakşehir to Al-Ittihad.

Fernandao had also transferred from Fenerbahçe to Al-Wahda, while Karl Maghani joined Al-Ahd from Turkish Sivasspor, in deals that previously reflected Saudi clubs' reliance on their Turkish counterparts.

But today, the rules of the game have changed, and the Saudi league has become a global attraction, not only buying stars but also exporting them, after its level has risen and it has become a symbol of seriousness and fierce competition.

It is clear that "Roshn" is no longer just an emerging league, but a comprehensive project confidently progressing to surpass major leagues and become a key player on the global football map.
