Neuer said: "That situation did not warrant that type of intervention. What he did was an unnecessary risk, and he deliberately accepted the possibility of injuring his opponent."
He added: "I approached him and said: 'Aren't you going to check on our player?' Out of respect, he should have done that. Later, he went and wished him a speedy recovery, but personally, I would have acted differently."
He concluded: "As for Jamal, this is a situation where the player takes the risk; I think it wasn't necessary to intervene in that way. In any case, we are hoping that the injury is not serious, although it will likely be."
