Hakimi continues rehabilitation in Morocco camp

Achraf Hakimi, the captain of the Morocco national team and star of Paris Saint-Germain, is continuing his rehabilitation program at the Mohammed VI Football Center in Maamoura, as part of the medical follow-up he is undergoing after the injury he sustained during his team's match against AS Monaco.

Achraf Hakimi has received approval from Paris Saint-Germain to join the national team camp, where he is under continuous monitoring from the medical and technical staff of the 'Atlas Lions', alongside a training program that suits his health status and current readiness.

Morocco officials are closely monitoring Achraf Hakimi's condition as they await a decision on his return to team training, before making a decision regarding his participation in upcoming competitions based on the progress of his physical condition.

In contrast, it has been confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will miss Morocco's first match during the international break when they face Gabon next Friday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, as part of the first round of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027, scheduled to take place in Uganda and Tanzania and Kenya.

The absence of the captain of Morocco from this match is not only related to his health condition, as he will also be missing due to a disciplinary sanction issued against him by the disciplinary committee of the Confederation of African Football, following the events that occurred in the Africa Cup of Nations final against the Senegal national team on January 18.

Morocco continue their preparations for upcoming challenges, having held a training session this morning at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, with all players participating except Achraf Hakimi and Ismail Sabiri. The duo is expected to join the group tomorrow, Wednesday, in preparation for the match against Gabon.

Morocco will start their qualifying campaign with a match against Gabon on Friday at 7 PM, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, before facing Lesotho on Tuesday, September 29, in South Africa.

Morocco will conclude the international break with a friendly against Ghana on Sunday, October 4, at the Grand Stadium in Tangier, as they await news on Achraf Hakimi's fitness and the possibility of his return to competition.
