Lopetegui announces Qatar squad
Julen Lopetegui, the coach of the Qatari national team, announced the squad called up for the preparatory camp for the Maroon team, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The squad saw the return of veteran Hassan Al-Haydos despite his retirement from international play, as he decided to come out of retirement to help the national team qualify for the World Cup finals.
The teams of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Iraq, and Indonesia have qualified for the Asian playoff for the World Cup.
It is scheduled that the 6 teams will be divided into two groups with 3 teams in each group, with the first team from each group qualifying directly for the World Cup, while the runners-up will play a decisive match, so that only one team qualifies for the global playoff.
