The German club RB Leipzig announced through its official website the appointment of Ole Werner as the new head coach of the first team, with a contract that lasts until the summer of 2027, succeeding the previous coaching staff, in preparation for the upcoming season.

Werner is 37 years old and joined Leipzig from Werder Bremen, where he had been coaching the team since November 2021 until May 2025. He has managed 128 official matches with them and led them to finish eighth in the league last season, tied on points with Leipzig.

Marcel Schäfer, the sporting director of Leipzig, stated that the club looks forward to working with Werner, whom he described as an ambitious coach with a clear football philosophy based on possession, quick transitions, and high pressing, noting that signing him is part of the ongoing development plan for the team.

Ole Werner expressed his great happiness at taking on the role of coaching Leipzig, confirming that the discussions between him and the club's management revealed a match in ideas and vision, and he is excited to start working with the players and the coaching staff, which will include Patrick Coleman and Tom Sechuan as assistants.
