Barcelona Withdraws from Yan Diomande Deal
Tuesday 21-04-2026
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Barcelona has decided to withdraw at the present time from signing the Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, a player for the German club Leipzig, due to the high financial demands from the German club.

According to the newspaper, Diomande was the preferred choice for Barcelona's sports management led by Deco to strengthen the winger position. The club held a meeting with the player's agents less than a month ago, but the deal became complicated because Leipzig insisted on receiving more than 100 million euros.

The report explained that Barcelona linked its move in the deal with the potential departure of Marcus Rashford, which contributed to changing the club's priorities in the transfer market.

The newspaper also indicated that Leipzig seeks to achieve a record sale in its history and refuses to enter into any negotiations for less than 100 million euros.

On the other hand, Diomande is attracting interest from English clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United, which may be able to meet the financial demands, while his transfer remains dependent on the player's decision.

The report confirmed that Barcelona might reconsider the deal in the future if the player remains in Germany, but signing him this summer seems unlikely, as the club is focusing on strengthening the center-back and striker positions first, with the possibility of adding a young winger if Rashford leaves.
