Reports from English media have revealed that French defender Ibrahima Konate has rejected Liverpool's first offer to renew his contract, leading to stalled negotiations between the two parties, amidst fears within the club of repeating the scenario of Alexander-Arnold, who left for Real Madrid this summer.

According to The Guardian, Konate's contract expires in June 2026, and he will enter the final year next month. The player has expressed his dissatisfaction with the structure of the new offer, especially since its value heavily depends on incentives and performance, while his representatives are demanding a higher base salary.

The newspaper clarified that Liverpool postponed negotiations with Konate during the last season, focusing instead on renewing the contracts of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom have already signed new deals in April, before shifting attention to the future of the French defender.
