Al-Hilal Denies Negotiations to Loan Ronaldo
Steve Kalzada, the CEO of Al-Hilal, denied rumors regarding his club's desire to sign Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Al-Nassr, on loan to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Kalzada stated: "We usually do not comment on such rumors, as the name of Al-Hilal is often used as a bargaining chip by some players or their agents, either to pressure their original clubs or to obtain better offers."
He added: "It is not wise to acquire a player just for a short tournament and then find yourself compelled to keep him for two years or more."
He emphasized his full respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, describing him as one of the greatest players in history, but he added: "Despite all the respect for him, it is illogical to bring in a star from your biggest rival, even if only for a few weeks."
Regarding the lack of notable signings before the tournament, he said: "Some players were in a summer vacation mindset, while others demanded outrageous amounts, yet we are confident that our team has a high competitive level."
Kalzada concluded his remarks: "Al-Hilal will focus on the traditional transfer market after the FIFA Club World Cup to strengthen its squad with the best available talents."
