Antonio Returns to Play After Long Absence
Tuesday 17-06-2025
Mikel Antonio, the West Ham United striker, made his first appearance since his car accident injury in December, coming on as a substitute in the 85th minute during Jamaica's 0-1 defeat to Guatemala in the Gold Cup.

Antonio, who is 35 years old, last played over six months ago in West Ham's defeat to Leicester City on December 3.

Four days after the West Ham-Leicester match, Antonio was injured when the car he was driving collided with a tree in Epping Forest.

He underwent surgery and spent four and a half weeks recovering in a hospital in Central London, returning to fitness ahead of schedule after initially being told that his rehabilitation would take 12 months.
