Barcelona Finalizes the Deal for Juan Garcia
The Spanish club Barcelona has finalized the contract deal with goalkeeper Juan Garcia, a player from Espanyol, after paying the buyout clause in his contract during the summer transfer period in preparation for the 2025/2026 season.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", Garcia's legal representatives paid the buyout clause amounting to 25 million euros, in addition to the fee due to the Spanish league, which means that the goalkeeper has officially ended his relationship with Espanyol and is only waiting to sign the final contracts after returning from vacation.
The newspaper indicated that Barcelona completed the deal in less than two weeks after reaching an agreement with Garcia on a contract that extends for six years, without conducting any negotiations with his former club, which will receive the amount directly and provide the transfer certificate to La Liga.
It was expected that the operation would be completed on Wednesday or Thursday of the previous week; however, some administrative procedures caused a slight delay before the amount was transferred and the deal was officially documented.
The report confirmed that the 24-year-old goalkeeper insisted on settling his future before the end of June and signed the contract before leaving for vacation, in coordination with Espanyol, which agreed to finalize the deal before the end of the fiscal year, allowing it to be counted in its budget and providing room for movement in the market.
