New Update on Juan Garcia's Transfer to Barcelona
Spanish media reports have revealed that FC Barcelona is close to signing Espanyol goalkeeper Juan Garcia during the summer transfer window, as part of the plan to strengthen the team's squad in preparation for the upcoming season.
According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the agreement between Barcelona and the Spanish goalkeeper has already been reached, with a slight modification in the contract duration to six years instead of five, similar to what happened previously with the extension of Lamine Yamal's contract, due to financial reasons.
Garcia's contract with Barcelona will extend until the summer of 2031, while the club is currently working on completing the necessary paperwork to finalize the deal, which includes paying the release clause in his contract with Espanyol, amounting to 25 million euros.
The newspaper indicated that the player's representatives and the club exchanged documents yesterday, as a first step before transferring the amount to the Spanish league, following a meeting between Barcelona's sporting director Deco and Garcia's agent, Ramon Valencia.
