Chile National Team Dismisses Ricardo Gareca from His Position
The Chilean Football Federation announced the dismissal of Argentine coach Ricardo Gareca from his position, following the loss to Bolivia by two goals to none in the 16th round of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, officially losing hopes of qualification.
With this defeat, the Chilean national team's points remain at 10, placing them at the bottom of the standings, making them the first team to exit the qualifiers, and missing the World Cup for the third consecutive time after not participating in the 2018 and 2022 editions.
Pablo Milad, the president of the Chilean federation, stated in his remarks after the match: "The period we started with great hope with Ricardo Gareca has ended."
Gareca took over the national team in January 2024, achieving only one victory in 13 matches, alongside 8 defeats and 4 draws.
