Lionel Scaloni, the coach of the Argentine national team, appeared in a press statement after the 1-1 draw against Colombia in the sixteenth round of the South American qualifiers for the World Cup.

He said: "In the first half, we did not find the right rhythm, but in the end, football is not just about playing well. In the second half, the team changed its dynamics, and we got chances."

He added: "This match was a good test to see how the team reacts when playing with three defenders; we are satisfied, and it makes sense that there are things to look at as always, but I am satisfied, especially with what we did in the second half."

He continued: "The changes were tactical, with Julián Simeone and Nico González it seemed we would get chances to attack from the flanks."

He emphasized: "Even under the circumstances in which we played the match, and after qualifying, our focus was on today's match, which is amazing. In the end, the fans truly appreciated our dedication; the harmony between us and the audience is really wonderful."

He added: "They planned a closed match, where the ball was moving very quickly, and if you are not precise, you may be exposed to some counterattacks. The best thing about the team, along with the constant attempts, is the pursuit of quick recovery and not giving up. From this standpoint, we are satisfied, and this is very important."

He went on: "Everyone puts in extra effort against us, and this happens. We face every match as it should be, and I do not remember quiet matches in the qualifiers.

He mentioned: "I think Argentina bore the weight of the match, especially after playing with ten players, but from now on, there are things to consider. Colombia set up the match in a way that could have put us in a difficult position."

He concluded: "The support of the fans was strong; it is nice to see them singing this way. We always need their support, and today, in a tough moment of the match, we felt that. This encourages the player."
