Scaloni: Chile is a Tough Opponent, and We Tried to Keep Mastantuno Calm
The Argentine national team coach Lionel Scaloni appeared in a press statement after the victory over Chile with a score of 1-0 in the 15th round of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The coach said: "Chile is a tough opponent for everyone; they have played good matches, especially in the last few games."
He added: "We are happy for Franco Mastantuno; we are trying to keep him calm these days. For a child his age, the first experiences are wonderful, so we didn't want to make him nervous."
He continued: "Our duty and the players' duty is to join the national team and give our all. It is true that these are tough times as players are playing many matches; but everyone wished to be here."
He concluded: "I think Chile took risks and deserved the win. Our goal is not to retreat, but sometimes it is not possible to press hard. I believe that the first half was ours, and the second half was for Chile."
