Thursday 05-06-2025
The match between the UAE national team and its Uzbek counterpart ended in a goalless draw, in the encounter held on Thursday evening, June 5, 2025, at Al Nahyan Stadium, as part of the ninth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Despite the UAE team having a possession advantage of 62%, they failed to convert their control into goals, as they shot 10 times, including 6 on target, compared to only 4 attempts from Uzbekistan.

Both teams made several changes during the second half, most notably the entry of Harib Abdullah instead of Fabio de Lima, and Caio Canedo in place of Luan Pereira, but the score remained unchanged despite the attempts.

The Uzbek defense showed clear cohesion, with the goalkeeper shining by saving six dangerous attempts, while the UAE team struggled with a lack of effectiveness in front of goal, missing the opportunity to secure qualification early.

With this draw, Uzbekistan raised its tally to 18 points in second place, while the UAE remained in third place with 14 points. Thus, Uzbekistan has officially secured qualification for the World Cup.
