Argentinian defender Cristian Romero, player of English club Tottenham Hotspur, has opened the door to the possibility of transferring to La Liga in the near future, confirming his desire to experience something new in the league.

Romero said: "I want to play in La Liga, this is the only league I haven't competed in yet, having played in the Italian and English leagues, and I want to continue this journey by experiencing La Liga."

Regarding the situation of his legendary teammate Lionel Messi participating in the 2026 World Cup, Romero commented: "Messi is in good shape and is showing an incredible level. If he is not physically fit, I will double my efforts running for him. We want him with us in the World Cup and we certainly hope for that."

The Tottenham defender added: "Messi means everything to us, he is like our guide on the road, and for me, I believe he will be present in the World Cup. I don't even think about the possibility of his absence."

Romero concluded his statements by talking about the best defenders in the world from his perspective, saying: "For me, Antonio Rudiger, Lisandro Martinez, and Virgil van Dijk are the best. The only thing that eludes me? It is winning the UEFA Champions League."
