Liverpool witnessed a tragic incident yesterday, Monday, during the lively celebrations of Liverpool FC winning its twentieth title in the English Premier League.

British media reported that a dark-colored car ran over a crowd of Liverpool fans celebrating the Premier League title on Water Street in the city center.

Videos circulating showed the car speeding towards the crowd before stopping after a few meters, as several fans rushed towards it in an attempt to stop the driver.

According to Merseyside Police, the driver, a 53-year-old white British man, has been arrested.

Liverpool stated via its account on X platform: "We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident that occurred on Water Street at the end of the title celebration parade earlier in the evening."

They added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this serious incident, and we will continue to provide our full support to the emergency services and local authorities dealing with this incident."
