Mundo Deportivo revealed that Barcelona is just steps away from renewing the contract of its young star Lamine Yamal until 2031, in a strategic move to protect one of the club's most prominent talents.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona is preparing to renew Yamal's contract after a meeting between the club's president Joan Laporta and the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, with the presence of sporting director Deco.

Lamine was scheduled to sign the contract on June 13 when he turns 18, but the club decided to expedite the process due to significant interest from major clubs and concerns about potential complications in the future.

The newspaper revealed that the initial agreement between the two parties was for the contract to extend until 2030, but the player's remarkable performance recently warranted improvements in the financial terms and an extension of the contract for an additional year until 2031.
