Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, appeared in press statements after winning the Italian league title this season, finishing just one point ahead of Inter.

Napoli defeated Cagliari 2-0 in the final round of the season.

De Laurentiis said: "I feel relieved now."

He added: "To say that this title is our fourth in the Italian league is a good number; it's not easy. We hope this is the beginning of the stability we aim to bring from Northern Italy to its South."

He continued: "It wasn't easy, but when I met Conte in the Maldives, and many years ago we went swimming together, I was impressed by his mentality. I contacted him in November 2023 and asked him to come immediately, but very professionally, he said he hadn't built this team, so it's better to wait until June so we can achieve something remarkable together. He did it, so I take my hat off to him."

He added: "Coaches have their own personalities that must be respected, and in my opinion, they should never be forced into strict contracts. Napoli is Napoli and deserves respect. If he wants to put himself at the service of the club as he did this season, we welcome him, and we are ready to follow him as a great leader."

He emphasized: "Next year, I would be very happy if Conte leaves his mark in the Champions League, which has become more important since the tournament's system was modified."

He followed: "I found Napoli in bankruptcy court, and we have been playing in Europe for 15 years; people forget that. But now I see children wearing Napoli colors with pride, while this wasn't always the case in the past. Look at what the city gave me for my birthday! Napoli is a city that always gives you the best in life, but you must be able to seize it; otherwise, you will remain on the sidelines with a miserable mentality. There is a winning mentality here, and even in despair, they emerge from it with success."

He stated: "I can say this because my family left Naples in the 1930s and 1940s and managed to spread success all over the world. I am happy that I have brought this success back to this city, the most famous form of entertainment, football."

He concluded: "Signing De Bruyne? Let's not ask inaccurate questions; we are working on building a stronger and more competitive team. We currently have wonderful players, and we will add more high-level players."
