The controversy has significantly escalated in the corridors of Iraqi football following the controversial statements made by the former coach of Duhok Club, Masoud Miral, in which he hinted at receiving a financial amount in exchange for losing to one of the clubs, a serious implication that may affect the essence of competition integrity in the Iraqi Premier League.

Legal expert specializing in sports affairs, Osama Adnan, called in exclusive statements for an immediate and transparent investigation by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Football Association, referencing Article (62) of the Association's bylaws, which grants the committee the authority to investigate and penalize any party that violates the laws. He added that the federation's failure to act could pave the way for affected clubs to appeal to FIFA under Article (20) of the International Disciplinary Regulations.

The controversy did not stop there, as Miral, who faced sharp criticism from fans after a video leaked showing him attacking a segment of the Iraqi people, describing them as "dirty and liars," announced his refusal to continue in the Iraqi Premier League, indicating that he is "the victim today, and others will take their turn tomorrow."

In a related context, the temporary board of Al-Zawraa Club expressed its astonishment at the federation's silence regarding these statements, which it described as "dangerous," and called for an urgent investigation, warning of inconsistent penalties and biased refereeing in favor of certain clubs, which could undermine trust in the championship.

Simultaneously, the Appeals Committee of the Football Association issued a decision to penalize the head of the temporary administrative board of Al-Zawraa Club, Hossam Ali Hamza, with a three-month ban from practicing any sports activity, along with a financial fine of 5 million dinars, based on Article (48) of the Disciplinary Regulations. The Olympic Committee has requested his removal from his position.

It is worth mentioning that despite these events, Masoud Miral led Duhok to a historic achievement by winning the Gulf Club Champions Cup for the first time, an unprecedented achievement in the history of the club and Iraqi clubs, adding further contradiction to his short and controversial career with the team.
