Duhok Issues Official Statement After Match Against Mosul

The management of Duhok Club issued an official statement clarifying the details of what accompanied the end of the team's recent match against Mosul, following the tension that prevailed on the field and in the stands, and after the circulation of clips and audio recordings on social media.

The club management confirmed that the atmosphere of the match witnessed tension related to refereeing decisions, pointing out that the addition of injury time surprised the fans and the technical staff, and considered it a direct cause of the tension that accompanied the meeting.

According to the statement, the club's president, Dr. Abdullah Jalal, went down to the field after the end of the match and approached the refereeing team in the presence of the match supervisor and director, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions that, in his view, affected the course of the match.

The management emphasized that it is aware of the sensitivity of such situations and the potential reactions from the fans, confirming that the administrative and organizational staff worked to contain the situation and prevent events from escalating.

It mentioned that the circulated video clips of the match confirm that matters did not get out of control, and that the club took immediate steps to calm the situation inside and around the stadium.

The statement addressed what was circulated on social media of an audio recording attributed to one of the refereeing crew members, containing allegations that the president of Duhok Club threatened to kill him.

The management demanded the presentation of official and clear evidence for these allegations, stressing that it will take the necessary legal measures in the absence of any documented evidence, including filing an official complaint to the Iraqi Football Association and the relevant legal authorities to preserve the club's reputation and its symbols.

The match preceding the statement witnessed objections from Duhok regarding the refereeing performance, especially concerning injury time. After the final whistle, field reports recorded clashes between some parties on the field, described by observers as a "horrific brawl," before the organizing bodies intervened to disperse it and escort players and crews to the locker rooms.

Duhok's management confirmed on its part that what happened was quickly controlled, and that it is keen on adhering to sportsmanship, while at the same time calling for a transparent investigation into all events and statements that accompanied the match.
