Slot: We did not achieve the result we wanted, and the Crystal Palace match will be different

Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press statement after the loss against Brighton 3-2 in the 37th and penultimate round of the Premier League.

The coach said: "It was a match between two very strong teams, wanting to play football, no time-wasting, no tricks. The momentum of the match changed, and I waited for us to score the third goal, that would have ended the match, but they equalized to 2-2. A great match, but it was not the result we wanted."

He added: "These moments at this level make a difference. Just before that attack, Salah gave Federico [Chiesa] a similar chance, and their goalkeeper brilliantly saved it. We played against the eighth-placed team in the Premier League, and they managed to include Mitoma, this shows the strength of this league."

He emphasized: "If you don't score the third goal, it will be difficult to win a match at this level, especially away from home. We cannot waste opportunities as we did if we want to win the match."

Regarding the substitutes: "They played their role in some matches, and they played their role in training. Today and the Chelsea match were special moments for them. They deserve to play; many of them will join the national team, so it's important for them to get enough playing minutes, and that’s why we rotated the lineup a bit. This is not the reason we dropped points against Chelsea and Brighton; both are strong teams."

About facing Crystal Palace in the final round: "It will be a completely different match from tonight's match. You saw how Brighton wanted to press us high and recover the ball from the back, but if Palace plays like they did in the FA Cup final, we will have more ball possession than tonight, but it is very difficult to break through their defense."
