Al-Karkh Coach: The Red Card Affected Us Significantly, and I Am Proud of the Team's Performance
Al-Karkh coach Ahmed Abdul Jabbar expressed his deep sadness and regret following the loss to Al-Karma by a single goal, in the match held at the Ahmed Rady Stadium during the 34th round of the Iraqi Stars League, emphasizing at the same time that he is proud of his players' performance, especially after the early numerical disadvantage the team faced in the match.
🗣️ Abdul Jabbar said in a statement after the end of the match:
"Honestly, the red card shown to our player Jaafar Abis in the fifth minute completely changed the course of the match and played a significant role in limiting our technical and tactical options. Playing with 10 players from the start against an organized team with good attacking players like Al-Karma is very difficult."
He added: "We had prepared ourselves well before the match, knowing that Al-Karma is one of the ambitious teams this season, but the scenario that unfolded confused us from the very first moment. The goal that came shortly after the red card forced us into a position of chasing the result instead of imposing our style."
Abdul Jabbar explained: "Despite the deficit, we tried as much as possible to maintain balance, and we entered the second half with a desire to get back into the match, but we lacked attacking solutions, especially with the absence of space in front of us and the opponent relying on retreating and playing on the counterattack."
He indicated: "The loss is painful, especially at this stage of the league, because we need every point to improve our position in the standings. We are in the fourteenth place with 40 points, which does not satisfy us, but there are still matches left, and we will work to compensate."
