Reports have revealed that Manchester United is interested in signing Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, the star of Aston Villa, during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite Martinez recently renewing his contract with Aston Villa until the summer of 2029 and becoming one of the highest-paid players at the club, Aston Villa's management is considering selling the veteran goalkeeper to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations in the Premier League, and they are looking to sign a younger replacement.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United is looking for a new goalkeeper this summer, given Andre Onana's declining performance and coach Ruben Amorim's lack of confidence in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as a primary option, despite his recent appearances.

Manchester United is expected to face strong competition for Martinez from major clubs, most notably Barcelona.

It is worth noting that 32-year-old Emiliano Martinez has played 52 matches with Aston Villa this season across various competitions, during which he conceded 61 goals.
