Alaa Abdul Zahra: I scored against a big team, but the result did not meet our ambitions
Al-Mina'a Club striker Alaa Abdul Zahra expressed his pride after scoring a goal against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw at the Al-Mina'a Stadium, confirming that his team had a great game and deserved to come away with all three points were it not for the last-minute equalizer they conceded.
Abdul Zahra pointed out that Al-Mina'a has distinguished elements capable of standing up to any team, explaining that the team has improved significantly in recent rounds and is now playing entertaining football, stressing that Al-Mina'a is not inferior to the top teams in the league despite differing ambitions.
He said: "The match was intense against a big team with outstanding players, yet we were the better side for many periods, and I feel proud of what the team achieved today."
He continued: "I am happy to have scored an important goal in this match, but my joy was not complete due to the result that was not in our favor. We deserved more than just a point."
He added: "We played with organization and discipline, we closed down the avenues against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, and we tried to capitalize on every opportunity with maximum effort, but football only recognizes those who score until the end."
He concluded: "The goal we conceded in the last minute was very painful, as it deprived us of a valuable win against one of the title contenders.
He emphasized: "We will continue to fight in the upcoming matches, and Al-Mina'a will remain a respected team that forces everyone to respect it, and I am proud to play for this team and of the great support from the Basra fans."
