Historic Rewards for Al Ahly Players After Winning the Asian Elite
Al Ahly entered history in a grand manner after winning the AFC Champions League Elite title for the first time, following their precious victory over Kawasaki of Japan with a score of 2-0 in Jeddah, thanks to goals from Jalino and Kessie.
The road to glory was not paved with roses, as Al Ahly overcame Al Rayyan, then Buriram United, and eliminated Al Hilal in the semi-finals, to set up a date with the grand final and outshine Kawasaki with determination and merit.
The sports newspaper revealed a massive reward of one million Saudi Riyals to be granted to each player in the team in appreciation of the unprecedented continental achievement that has brought Al Ahly back to the continental forefront with strength.
The newspaper clarified that Al Ahly will not bear the full reward alone but will share it with the Saudi Ministry of Sports, as the club will pay 700,000 Riyals, while the ministry will cover 300,000 Riyals for each player, under the direction of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal.
Although Al Ahly has practically finished its local season with its exit from the cup and distancing itself from the league race, its Asian title has granted it a ticket to qualify for the next edition of the same tournament, making its next goal clear from now on.
