The Argentine club Boca Juniors has officially announced the dismissal of coach Fernando Gago from his position, following the defeat against their traditional rival River Plate with a score of 2-1 in the Superclásico match during the Argentine league on Tuesday evening.

The club clarified in an official statement that the decision to part ways with Gago came after a complete conviction that the coach had reached the end of the road, thanking him and his coaching staff for their professionalism during the past period, with wishes for their success in their future careers.

Gago's dismissal comes ahead of Boca Juniors' participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States during the months of June and July.

The team is expected to play in Group C alongside German club Bayern Munich, Portuguese club Benfica, and New Zealand's Auckland City.
