Ribin Solaka: I Will Take Legal Action Against Those Who Defamed My Reputation
Iraqi national team defender Ribin Solaka broke his silence to respond for the first time to the media insults he faced in recent days, confirming his intention to take legal action against a journalist who accused him in an unethical manner and harmed his reputation as a player and a human being.
In his talk to the "Professionals" website, Solaka emphasized his respect for technical criticism and his acceptance of different opinions about his level on the field, but he firmly rejected any intrusion into his personal life or accusations that tarnish his reputation without any evidence or credibility.
He said: "I will file a lawsuit against one of the journalists who defamed my reputation in an unethical way, and I will not remain silent about it, as it crossed the boundaries of sports criticism."
He added: "Everyone can criticize my technical level and express their opinion in any way they like, even if you believe I am the worst player in Iraq's history, I would not mind, but do not accuse me of things that tarnish my reputation as a human being."
He continued: "For the first time in my life, I am responding to an insult, as I always believe that criticism is part of my job as a football player, but this time is different, as it is a personal insult and defamation without any evidence."
He completed: "The media excess in some channels has reached an unacceptable level, and it has begun to affect players psychologically, and it may lead some of them to refrain from representing national teams in the future if these behaviors are not stopped."
These statements come at a time when the Iraqi sports scene is witnessing a state of controversy due to some sports programs that have crossed the boundaries of constructive criticism, prompting many players to call for clearer regulations that protect their rights and ensure a healthy environment for media interaction.
