Kompany: I Trust All My Players, Ready to Face Inter
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, confirmed that his team performed well in many periods of the match against Borussia Dortmund, despite the 2-2 draw, noting that the significant turning point in the match came after Dortmund scored the opening goal.
Kompany said: "I think things were going positively until the first goal. We knew in advance, especially after Dortmund's match against Barcelona, how difficult it is to come back under such circumstances. Up until that moment, we managed to exploit some aspects of the game, played at a good pace, and created several chances."
He added: "But after Dortmund's first goal, the match turned into an atmosphere of open cup matches. Honestly, I would buy a ticket to watch a match with such excitement, but as a coach, you always hope for a greater degree of control and dominance. Nevertheless, I felt that the players fought until the end for the win, and I sensed that the opposing team was doing the same."
He continued: "Of course, we wanted to win, and we didn't succeed, so there is a feeling that things could have gone better."
He went on: "Despite the setbacks we faced last week, it is important to maintain energy and cohesion within the team. Our fans saw a team that shot 50 times on goal in the last three matches against strong teams that reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. This reflects the mentality and belief within the group. We are trying to improve the small details, yet there is no negative thinking; we keep working and remain a threat."
Regarding the possibility of some stars participating in the return match against Inter Milan in the Champions League, Kompany clarified: "For me, this is a very easy decision. Any player I put on the field, I have complete confidence in him. I know they can perform in big moments. Gnabry came on and performed very well, as did Guerreiro. Thomas Müller started the match and had a good performance, as did Michael Olise and Harry Kane. We need this kind of readiness now."
He concluded by saying: "I understand that the talk about Müller is always present in the media because he is a legend, but inside the club, things are very calm. The most important thing for me is that every player is ready to seize the opportunity when it comes, and so far, the players are proving that."
