Japan Secures Spot in 2026 World Cup Finals

The Japanese national team has qualified for the 2026 World Cup after defeating Bahrain (2-0) in the seventh round of the final stage of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup.

Japan took the lead through player Daichi Kamada in the 66th minute of the match, and then his teammate Takefusa Kubo added the second goal in the 87th minute.

With this victory, Japan raised its points to 19 at the top of the standings and officially qualified for the World Cup, while Bahrain's points remained at 6 in fifth place after the loss.

The Japanese national team is the first to qualify from Asia for the World Cup and the fourth overall after the United States, Canada, and Mexico (the tournament hosts).
