Kompany: No Room for Underestimating Union Berlin, We Must Deliver Our Best Performance
Friday 14-03-2025
Vincent Kompany, head coach of Bayern Munich, made several statements during a press conference held today, Friday, in preparation for Bayern Munich's match against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Regarding the match against Union Berlin, Kompany said: "Union is a team that thrives on special moments, they have a unique style of moving the ball towards the attackers or midfielders, and they rely on second balls. We recognize their quality and know that winning against them requires us to deliver our best performance."

On the importance of focusing solely on football, he added: "I am happy when the discussion is only about football. Now that the negotiations with Kimmich are over, he can focus on playing. The most important thing is performance in training, the locker room, and matches."

Regarding rotation in the lineup, he continued: "I have never talked about rotation, but about trust in all players. Sometimes we have to make changes, but I have complete faith in my team. We will put out a strong lineup that gives us the opportunity to win."

On the absence of the opposing coach, Steffen Baumgart, he said: "Players are the ones who score goals, but leadership from the sidelines plays an important role. Despite his absence, I expect his assistants to compensate for this role."

When asked about Sané, he responded: "I have known Sané for a long time, he is fine. The things that happened are normal, and the next day he was laughing and enjoying his time."

On Eric Dier, he stated: "Eric is a very important player, professional, and always works on improving himself and his teammates. He has played significant roles in major matches, and doesn't need much talking about, as he proves himself through his performance."

Regarding team injuries, he clarified: "Pavlovic, Manuel Neuer, and João Palhinha will miss the match. As for Kim Min-jae, he is suffering from an Achilles tendon injury and will be out for a few weeks. We need to manage his situation carefully to avoid aggravating the injury."

On the necessity of securing a win, he said: "There are no easy matches in the Bundesliga. Union Berlin put up a strong performance against Frankfurt and achieved a convincing victory. We need to deliver a complete performance to secure the three points."
