Al-Ahly's Withdrawal from the Summit Match
Wednesday 12-03-2025
Sports commentator Ahmed Al-Tayeb commented on Al-Ahly's withdrawal from the summit match against Zamalek, which was scheduled for yesterday, Tuesday, in the first round of the decisive phase of the Premier League.

Al-Ahly had announced its withdrawal against Zamalek and threatened not to continue in the league, insisting on bringing in foreign referees to manage the summit match.

Al-Ahly did not attend Cairo Stadium yesterday, and Zamalek was considered the winner of the match.

Al-Tayeb said on Facebook: "Al-Ahly's loss of 6 points due to its withdrawal against Zamalek brings Zamalek closer to winning the league with Pyramids and gives a greater opportunity for Al-Masry to occupy the third place!! This way, Al-Ahly becomes the closest to the fourth place, and Al-Ahly is lucky because if that happens, it could participate in the Confederation next season, and if it wins, it might face Zamalek, which is certain to win the African Champions League."

He continued: "They will play together for the African Super Cup, which Zamalek won and holds the title thanks to Nasser Mansi. Unfortunately, the decision to withdraw against Zamalek has very bad consequences, and it is the worst decision in the history of Al-Ahly's management and Al-Khatib after the decision to withdraw from African championships in the 1990s, which was the reason for Zamalek's right to the title of the century as the most successful team in the African Champions League by the end of the last century."
