Xavi: What We Achieved with Barcelona is Very Positive, and I Acknowledge This
Saturday 08-03-2025
The Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez spoke about his experience as the head coach of Barcelona during an extensive interview with the famous newspaper France Football published today, Saturday.

Xavi stated: "If you look at what we have achieved, and I include my coaching staff with me, it is very positive, because the club was in one of its worst periods in history, perhaps even worse than the beginning of this century."

He added: "The expectations were very high because of my history with Barcelona. Perhaps my deep emotional connection to the club has caused me harm at times, as I was more emotional than I should have been in some moments, but this experience has been a real lesson in learning for me."

He continued: "I acknowledge that I made some mistakes in management. The departure of Busquets forced us to rethink our playing style, and I chose to play with a midfield of three attacking players, but it wasn't always the best option."

He added: "Aside from the titles, I feel proud that I trusted a new generation like Ferran Lopez, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Alejandro Balde... these represent the future of Barcelona."

He concluded: "My first year and a half at Barcelona was very good. We had a project with Matteo Alemany and Jordi Cruyff, which allowed us to finish the league in second place, then win the league and the Spanish Super Cup. But after that, the results declined... the departure of Jordi and Matteo was a painful blow."
