Enrique: We Were the Best, But Football Is Not Fair
Thursday 06-03-2025
Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, expressed his disappointment following the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, pointing out that his team was the better side throughout the match.

Enrique said after the match held at the Parc des Princes: "The loss is unfair; we played our best game in the Champions League this season."

The Spanish coach added: "We clearly outperformed Liverpool, and their goalkeeper was the best player of the match, but football is not always fair. We now need to focus on the second leg."

Regarding the missed opportunities, Enrique refused to blame Bradley Barcola, who squandered several clear chances, and simply stated: "No comment."

The Paris Saint-Germain coach concluded his remarks optimistically, saying: "We were the better team, but Liverpool won. I will not be negative; there is still another match, and I am optimistic about our ability to come back."

The two teams are scheduled to meet again next Tuesday at Anfield, where Paris Saint-Germain aims to compensate for their loss and secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
