Postecoglou: We feel disappointed, but we delivered a great second half
Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham, expressed his disappointment after the loss to Manchester City 1-0 in the Premier League, but praised the team's strong performance in the second half, confirming that there are many positives to build on.
He said: "In the first half, we were too excited and lost a lot of balls, which allowed City to control the rhythm. When you give them that space, they become very dangerous; they created good chances, but we held on, and it was important to go into halftime only a goal down."
He added: "In the second half, we were calmer with the ball and more aggressive without it. I think we completely dominated, played in their half, and created dangerous chances, but we lacked the final touch that would have changed the outcome of the match."
Postecoglou confirmed: "Certainly, the substitutes made a big impact, but I think we were in a good position from the start of the second half. We were more organized and controlled the play, but we were lacking decisiveness in the final third of the pitch."
He continued: "We feel frustrated about the loss, but I am proud of the way we played in the second half. We were clearer and calmer in our movements, unlike the first half where we were rushing to hurt City, which cost us a lot. This is a lesson we need to learn from."
He concluded his remarks by saying: "What we showed in the second half is the shape of the team we want to be. We need to carry this momentum into the next match and ensure we continue to improve."
