Howrs were absent from the sports scene for long years after he retired from football in June 2015, but he returned to the sports scene to work as an adviser to the head of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee.

"The circumstances were not appropriate in the past to nominate and work in the Iraqi Football Association, but in the future I may think about the matter and may be attended by a specific position in the Iraqi Federation in the near future, which is the ambition and right of everyone."
