Conmebol, the South American confederation, announced in an official statement the opening of an investigation into the match between Colombia and Uruguay, in the Copa America semi-final.
A violent quarrel had occurred. A clash occurred between the players of the Uruguayan national team and the Colombian fans, in the stands of the Bank of America Stadium, after the match between the two teams, which saw Colombia win 1-0.
Press reports said that the drunk Colombian fans assaulted the Uruguayan fans, including the players' families.
Reports added that the Uruguayan national team players, led by Darwin Nunez, Jiménez and Araujo, clashed with Colombian fans to protect their family.
The Colombian national team will face its Argentine counterpart in the Copa America final.
