Amorim: Set pieces changed everything, and we will get better with time
The Portuguese coach of the English club Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, appeared in important press statements following the defeat against Arsenal, in the fourteenth round of the English Premier League, by two goals to nothing.
Amorim said: “It was a difficult match. We tried to play our style, especially in the first half. We could have been more aggressive, but we need more training to reach this level.”
He continued: “Fixed balls changed everything. We have to realize that they have been doing this for years. We tried to defend them, but it is difficult for any team to defend the set pieces that Arsenal plays.”
He added: “We will get better as time goes by. We have to use every minute to try to improve and we are here to achieve that. We have a lot to raise our quality in all areas of the team.”
He continued. “We tried to play well, but Arsenal is a team Very organized, and it was difficult to score goals. I felt that the players were in control of the match, and the free kicks changed the course of the match in the second half.”
He continued: “As happened in the match.” Finally, we should not focus on the result only. Let us look at the performance. There are many things to work on. There are more matches than training at the moment.”
He continued: "You can feel that the players were not playing comfortably. We had one day to develop a strategy. We were able to limit the danger of the right side. The difference was the set pieces. We conceded a goal, and the momentum changed."
He concluded his talk about: Luke Shaw: “Since my arrival, I have seen him in the medical department. He works a lot in the gym. We control the time he participates in matches. He was losing weight and doing everything. If he continues this behavior, he is a first-class player, no matter how long it takes.” He needs it, we will be with him.”
