Arteta: We deserve to win, and I am proud of the team

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta appeared in press statements after the 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the ninth round of the English Premier League.

The coach said: “Very proud of the team.” Courage, quality and control in the match we wanted to play, especially in the first half. The score should have been greater in the first half, but they came out in the second half and we were not brave.”

He added: “We deserved to win the match. We were the better team. We learned from the two goals. The second goal is a transitional moment that we must finish in the final third. You cannot give that up.”

He stressed: “We were clear about what we had to do, and the execution, determination and aggression with and without the ball was really good. There were a few moments when we should have put the ball in the net.”

He concluded: “In the first stage, we needed more courage to play. We created great opportunities.”
