Pereira: Thank God he did not succeed in the penalty kick
The Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira, Al-Shabab coach, defended his Moroccan striker Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah, who missed a decisive penalty kick that was enough to save his team from losing to Al-Nasr, in yesterday’s match.
Al-Shabab lost to its guest Al-Nasr by two goals to one, in the seventh round match of the Saudi Roshan League Championship.
Pereira said in his statements after the end of the match: “Hamdullah performed at a distinguished level during the match, but the penalty kick had a great element of luck. He executed it well but was unsuccessful.”
He added: “Hamdallah was serious, but he did not succeed. He is undoubtedly a great player, and Cristiano Ronaldo, the great player, misses penalty kicks.”
The youth coach continued, stressing that his team deserved to go out with a draw result: “We believe in winning and losing, but football is unfair.”
