The management of the English club Liverpool received a huge morale boost regarding a deal that they wanted to include in the team.

Liverpool wanted to sign Real Sociedad player Martin Zobimendi in the current summer Mercato.

After reports of the faltering deal, Real coach Imanol Alguacil left. Sociedad to raise controversy over Zobimendi's future.

The Sociedad coach said during the press conference after his team's match against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish League: “It happens every year during the summer transfer period, that some players leave. Our distinguished players after offers from foreign clubs.”

He continued: "This is what happens with Mikel Merino (Arsenal wants him) and Robin Le Normand (he left for Atletico Madrid). There are no two players like them."

He added: "And I will not even tell you whether Zobimendi will leave or not at the last minute. They are all exceptional players because of what they did with us at Real Sociedad."

He concluded: “Le Normand left, Arsenal wanted Moreno, Liverpool was willing to pay Zobimendi’s release clause.”
