Wael Riad: I hope to coach Al Ahly FC and Amouta is a good coach
Wael Riad, the head coach of the Egypt U-20 national team, confirmed that he hopes to coach Al Ahly FC in the future, noting that he has worked to keep Mahmoud Salah, the star of his team and a player for the red team, during the North African Championship.
The Egypt U-2007 team won the North Africa Championship held in Egypt last September and October, qualifying for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Wail Riyad stated in remarks to MBC Masr: "We have worked on treating Mahmoud Salah so that he can participate in the tournament, and we preferred to involve him gradually throughout our matches in the tournament, to preserve him, and he has excelled in all the encounters he has participated in."
Regarding his view of the current Al Ahly FC coach, he said: "Al-Hussein Amouta is a good coach, has a strong resume, is an organized coach, and needs time to understand the identity and nature of Al Ahly FC."
He continued: "From what I see, Al-Hussein Amouta needs to change his thinking, as Al Ahly FC's playing style does not rely on transitions, but rather on high pressing."
Regarding the possibility of taking over the coaching of Al Ahly FC, he said: "Of course, I hope for that, as I am one of the club's own, and I belong to Al Ahly.. I certainly remain neutral when I am with the national teams, but I still remain a supporter of Al Ahly."
Wael Riyad concluded his statements by saying: "Do I accept the position of general coach at Al Ahly FC currently? I haven't thought about that matter, so I don't have an answer... I am confident in myself and my abilities, and I am trying to work systematically."
