In 10th place, what does Ittihad need to qualify for the round of 16?
Saudi Arabia's federation suffered a heavy blow in their AFC Champions League Elite campaign, losing at home to Al-Ain 1-4 in the match that took place on Monday evening during the fourth round of the Western Conference league stage.
This defeat leaves Ittihad with 4 points, dropping them to 10th place in the standings after four rounds out of eight in the league stage, making their task of securing a spot in the Round of 16 more difficult.
The Saudi team had begun their campaign with a draw against Al-Shamal, finishing 1-1, before losing to Shabab Al-Ahli 2-1. They then regained their balance with an away win against Pakhtakor, winning 2-1, but returned to negative results against Al-Ain.
Al-Ittihad face four decisive matches in the remaining rounds, starting with a home game against Pakhtakor on November 23. They will then visit Al-Wasl on December 7.
Al-Gharafa will face the Qatari side on February 8, followed by a home match against Al-Sadd on the 15th of the same month, in the final stages of the league phase.
According to qualification calculations, reaching 12 points gives teams a great chance to reach the Round of 16, which means Al-Ittihad need to collect at least 8 points from their remaining four matches to ensure their official qualification to the Round of 16.
