AC Milan targets Alex Scott to succeed Modrić
AC Milan are preparing their plans for the future in anticipation of the departure of Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, with Englishman Alex Scott of AFC Bournemouth among their potential targets to strengthen the midfield, according to Italian newspaper "Sport Mediaset."
Alex Scott, 23 years old, has caught the eye thanks to his impressive performances during last season, which prompted Thomas Tuchel, the England national team coach, to call him up to participate with the team in the Nations League. However, the player suffered a quadriceps muscle tear during the big win against Croatia, which will keep him out of action for nearly two months.
Due to injury, Alex Scott will miss AFC Bournemouth's clash against AC Milan, scheduled for October 22, as part of the Europa League, which will take place at Vitality Stadium.
The English midfielder is distinguished by his ability to play in the advanced midfield or playmaker position, alongside possessing a mix of technical skills, speed, and movement. These factors have made him a target for several major clubs, led by AC Milan, who see him as an important investment for the future, as well as Arsenal and Chelsea, amid reports of interest from other European clubs.
Alex Scott is under contract with AFC Bournemouth until June 2028, with the English club setting his release price at over €50 million amid expected competition for his signature.
