Cucurella: Perisic's red card was deserved, and we have no ceiling to our ambitions

Marc Cucurella, the Spain international, praised the team's reaction during their 2-1 victory over Croatia, stating that the match was difficult but showcased the team's character and ability to handle complex situations.

Marc Cucurella spoke about the red card for Ivan Perišić: "I think the red card for Perišić is clear. There was contact, and they are defending their team (regarding the whistles against him). But I focus on our fantastic reaction. We started the match a bit asleep, but the commitment and desire to turn the result around were present."

Cucurella spoke about Croatia's strength and the physical pace of the match, explaining: "They are also coming off tough matches, and we expected that. In the first half, we struggled to keep up with their rhythm, and we made some unusual ball losses for us, but in the end, we showed why we are the best team in the world."

Spain player praised his teammate Mikel Merino, who came off the bench to score the winning goals, saying: "We are very happy. The coach always says that sometimes matches are won by players who come off the bench. We have 26 players with great quality, and in the end, everyone becomes important."

Marc Cucurella has stated that Spain do not want to set limits on their ambitions, but he sees the match against Croatia as an important lesson. He said: "Nothing is impossible. Today's match was a wake-up call for us, and we had to suffer a lot. We achieved another victory, gained three additional points, and qualified for the quarter-finals."
