Spain defeat Croatia and qualify for UEFA Nations League quarter-finals
Spain secured a valuable victory against Croatia with a score of two goals to one in the UEFA Nations League, in the match held at the Poljud Stadium.
Spain has raised its tally to 12 points at the top of the group and qualifies for the quarter-finals, while Croatia remains on 3 points in third place.
Croatia took the lead through Ivan Perišić in the 17th minute, following a counter-attack that ended with a shot saved by Unai Simón, before Perišić followed up with a header into the net.
In the 61st minute, Spain scored the opening goal after a ball into the penalty area reached Olmo, who then passed it to Mikel Merino, who struck it low into the net, beating the Croatian goalkeeper.
Ivan Perišić had the chance to score the winning goal with a shot from inside the penalty area, but Simon made a brilliant save. Perišić was then sent off with a second yellow card for a challenge on Marc Cucurella in the 80th minute.
In the 89th minute, Spain secured the winning goal through Mikel Merino, who received a ball inside the penalty area from Zubimendi, before expertly firing it into the net.
