Parma announces departure of Carlos Cuesta, Gilardino top candidate to succeed him

Parma have announced today, Sunday, the departure of Spanish coach Carlos Cuesta from the first team, after reaching a mutual agreement to terminate the contractual relationship between the two parties.

The club clarified in an official statement that the decision came after an internal meeting between the management and the coach, where both parties concluded that the conditions were not suitable to continue working on the sports project, thus ending Cuesta's experience with the team.

Carlos Cuesta has led Parma to secure their place in Serie A last season, but has faced a tough start this season, as the team has only collected 4 points in the first 5 rounds.

The current coaching staff will temporarily lead Parma's training sessions starting from the session on Monday, September 28, until a new coach is hired.

According to reports, Alberto Gilardino is at the top of the names being considered to replace Cuesta, while the list also includes Igor Tudor and Stefano Pioli, although both prefer to wait for other options. The name of Cristian Corint, the youth team coach, has also been suggested as an internal solution, but he is not currently seen as the most likely option.

In its statement, Parma thanked Cuesta and his coaching staff for the time they spent at the club, wishing them success and good fortune in their future endeavors.
