Gouiri injury rules him out of Algeria camp and matches against Burundi and Niger

Algeria have suffered another setback during the international break, with Amine Gouiri ruled out for the remainder of the camp due to a left thigh injury, according to the medical examinations the player underwent.

Amine Gouiri, the Olympique Marseille forward, participated for only 19 minutes in Algeria's match against Zambia in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027, before being forced to leave the pitch due to injury, with Amin Chiakha taking his place in the match.

Amine Gouiri suffered an injury after trying to avoid a collision with a Zambian player, as he fell to the ground and pointed to his left thigh before requesting a substitution. The coaching staff decided to replace him to prevent the situation from worsening.

The Algerian Football Federation, in an official statement, confirmed that the tests conducted on the player on Saturday morning revealed an injury to his left thigh, which forced him to leave the match against Zambia.

The federation explained that Gouiri will undergo a period of rest before leaving the national team camp on Sunday morning to return to his club Olympique Marseille, where he will undergo additional medical examinations under the supervision of the French team's medical staff, with the aim of determining the nature of the injury and the duration of his absence.

Thus, Amine Gouiri's absence is confirmed for Algeria's upcoming match against Burundi, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, as part of the second round of Group 9 in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027. He will also miss the friendly match against Niger, set to take place on October 6 in Tizi Ouzou.
